General Music started the trimester with the study of rhythm. We've been having a lot of fun and learning a lot through playing Western African music on the djembe. We've also learned the nuts and bolts to how to read and write rhythms using standard musical notation. Sadly, this unit is coming to a close. The students have now created small groups and are composing their own rhythmic songs with every student playing their own rhythmic patterns on different percussion instruments. After our performances of our own compositions, this unit will conclude with a standard written exam and the first process folio update/check.
The ensemble performances of our original compositions will take place:
Tues, Oct 9th - periods 2 and 6
Wed, Oct 10th - periods 1 and 4
Thurs, Oct 11th - period 5
Fri, Oct 12th - period 3
The written exam and process folio update/check will take place the next class:
Wed, Oct 10th - period 6
Thurs, Oct 11th - periods 1, 2 and 4
Fri, Oct 12th - period 5
Mon, Oct 15th - period 3
