The Gibbons Middle School Concert Choir
The GMS Concert Choir is the co-curricular choral/vocal ensemble at Gibbons Middle School. Students must be a member of the GMS Chorus (which meets during the school day) in order to be involved in the GMS Concert Choir. Students interested in performing with this ensemble must
(1.) Print this page of the website, sign and fill out the GMS Concert Choir Commitment and turn it in to Mr. Stillitano by the audition
(2.) Sing an audition which will consist of singing the first verse of "America the Beautiful" with piano accompaniment (memorization is not necessary)

GMS Concert Choir Repertoire
The GMS Concert Choir will focus on chamber vocal music. Students will study core choral repertoire, newly composed choral works, jazz, and popular music. Practice resources for current repertoire and past programs are available. Please click HERE.
Rehearsals
The GMS Concert Choir rehearses primarily on Wednesdays during the school year in the music room, 2:10-3:25pm.
Auditions (either date - signups will take place in the music room):
- Tuesday, September 19 (beginning at 2:05pm)
- Wednesday, September 20 (beginning at 2:05pm)
First Rehearsal:
- Wednesday, September 27
Altered Rehearsals:
- No rehearsal week of October 16 (tech week for the fall staged production)
- Tuesday, October 24 instead of Wednesday, October 25
- Tuesday, November 21 instead of Wednesday, November 22
- Tuesday, December 5 instead of Wednesday, December 6
- No rehearsal week of December 18
- No rehearsal week of April 2 (tech week for the spring staged production)
- Tuesday, April 24 instead of Wednesday, April 25

Performance Calendar
All performances and dress rehearsals are mandatory. Dress rehearsals are the final rehearsal before a performance. They do not mean that you come wearing your concert attire though :) All performances are also listed on the calendar page. School administration reserves the right to change any dates. All performances are in the GMS Auditorium unless otherwise noted.

Attendance Policy
Students who are interested in rehearsing and performing with the GMS Concert Choir must adhere to the following attendance policy:
1. Concert Choir is a full year activity - students should anticipate singing all year if they are accepted into the group.
2. Students will be in their assigned seat with their folder, music and pencil, and cell phones put away (for the entire rehearsal) before 2:10pm.
3. If a student is to miss a rehearsal, they should let Mr. Stillitano know 2 weeks in advance in an email or a note from their parent/guardian.
4. Arriving late or leaving early from a rehearsal will count as 1 absence. If you must arrive late, please bring a pass.
5. For a student to perform in the Winter Concert, they are allowed only 2 absences between September and that concert date, and they must attend the dress rehearsal.
6. For a student to perform in the Spring Concert, they are allowed only 3 absences between January and that concert date, and they must attend the dress rehearsal.

Westborough Public School Activity Fee
The GMS Concert Choir is subject to the Westborough Public Schools activity fee. Please Note: activity fee payments Do Not have to be paid prior to auditions - after auditions, families of students who are accepted into the Concert Choir will be sent an invoice. The activity fee for Gibbons Middle School is $150 per activity with a family cap of $500. If your student is on the reduced lunch program then you are eligible for a reduced activity fee - please contact Nicole Reed (District Billing Coordinator) at 508-836-7720 x.5201 for information.

Registering for Concert Choir with Family ID
The GMS Concert Choir roster will be posted at the conclusion of auditions. Accepted students need to register for Concert Choir via Family ID. Families do not need to register prior to auditioning. A parent / guardian should register, not the student.

GMS Concert Choir Commitment
Students that are interested in auditioning for and participating in the GMS Concert Choir must print this page and sign the document with their parent/guardian, acknowledging that they understand and plan to honor the year-long commitment to the GMS Concert Choir.
